except for the sharp start a bomb, dark and harsh, the tobacco and leather dominate almost as in the 18-year-old Port Ellen of DL from the sherry barrel. Evil charge oak, awesome!
    • Nose
Pure: first fatest tobacco and wet old leather, just awesome! In addition, pleasant smoke. After a lot of time and a long smell, these aromas slowly recede and sweet dark cherry is added, infused with dark chocolate. Wow! With a little water: the leather air recedes, more fear and smoke.
    • Taste
Pure: unfortunately quite sharp onset, then immediately the aromas from the nose, leather, darkest dark chocolate, an oak cargo that has washed, then nice sweet smoke, light dark red fruit, no cherry, indefinable. FETTEST! With a little water: a more pleasant start, the rest is almost unchanged, you can do.
    • Finish
long, sticks on the palate, thick dark oak, beautiful dry and bitter, the barrel has done a great job.

One of the rare, successful red wine bottlings, very complex - there is a lot to discover
    • Nose
Integrated campfire smoke floats in the glass, old leather, wonderfully grape, some nutmeg and cloves, red fruit jelly, raspberry cream candy - you should definitely give time in the glass and add 1 to 2 drops of water, it's worth it
    • Taste
First a sharp start, sweet tobacco, red grapes, matured dark Patanegra ham, Amarena cherries, clear tannins in the cheek pouches
    • Finish
very long with smoked red berries, dry fruit sweetness with a distinct but pleasant wood

Well done Bowmore. Not my dearest since I have him
from bourbon casks. Cover up the wine notes
not the distillery character, which is good. But the wine barrel
brings clearly bitter notes into play.
    • Nose
      88 88
      Red-fruity, grape-like, plum-like with citrus notes.
Smoky, maritime, slightly salty with aromas of wood.
    • Taste
      86 86
Rel. Not very sweet, somewhat woody - astringent. Also easy
salty, smoky and red-fruity. Also some cocoa.
In the background a bit musty like old cellar or
Forest floor and also slightly flowery.
    • Finish
      84 84
Medium to long. Tart - fruity - woody with fading
      Smoke.

Conclusion: Overall, the Bowmore has a lot of taste and complexity.

red grapes ,, citrus, only a slight smoky note ,, honeydew melon, slightly fermented / sour grapes (new wine for onion cake ????)
    • Taste

sweet red berries, dark chocolate, coffee, light ash
    • Finish

long with a lot of dark chocolate

What a great example of a wine maturation that is NOT dominating the whole. A really great Bowmore expression. More of this please!
    • Nose
A lot of sweetness from the wine cask but also still a very alive Bowmore signature! Lovely red fruits, dark red grapes, herbs and gentle peat smoke combined with red fruits. A very well deserving Bowmore! It needs some time in the glass to get rid of the sharper hints that are present in the beginning. But what a whopping result and way beyond it ‘s age! Delicate, layered & complex. Definitely the best wine influenced whisky I’ve ever had!
    • Taste
Lovely full and well matured notes, well beyond it’s age of 16yo. Full bodied, rich and lively! Again a lot of sweetness lingering in from the start. After that a great mature layer of ripe red fruits and dried herbs and spices. The red wine casks really did their job without taking over the whole. This is just stunning!
    • Finish
Very long and rich! The finish is definitely the best part with hints of old leather, polish dark oak, cigar leafs and fresh tobacco. It goes on and on and is just terrific!
