For me great, for others by the very obtrusive, superficial Sherrylastigkeit presumably too obtrusive, definitely something special.
    • Nose
Dried fruits, raisins, chocolate, liquorice, with a slightly sulphurous-fleshy note - smoked salami?
    • Taste
sweet, full-bodied and intense, dry, slightly furry mouthfeel, lots of dark chocolate, (Storck giants), licorice, some plum jam and peppery pungency
    • Finish
long, dry, latte, liquorice, some pepper

Aroma: From the first touch to the glass, I think this will be a great quality and originality at the same time. Shorter sherry, light peat, licorice, some raspberry marmalade, but slightly burnt, reminds me a little, yes, I have to say, Säntis Dreifaltigkeit. ;) Above all, the smoked smoked meat, the flesh, the tone is in the end sweetish. (88 b)
Taste: Very delicate, very sweet, pleasant on the tongue, although more percent of alcohol should not hurt. Smooth smokeiness, beautiful influence of sherry (most of it comes in PX style), plums, milk chocolate, creamy wood. Taste is perfectly luxuriously tuned. (90 b)
    Points: 89
Summary: I compared a Pinoc Noir Finish in a direct duel with the Pinot Noir Finish 10 yo 2008, and the smell was a perfectly balanced race, and Teerenpeli's taste was clearly better. A great surprise for me, the first meeting with whisky from Finland and made a great impression on me.

If I understand correctly, this whisky here is one of the first attempts of a young distillery. It's not a very well balanced or round whisky. Nor does it have a feel to it, that the distillers succeeded what they were after. Nevertheless, this young whisky does have both pleasant familiar flavors to it, and some quite interesting, surprising foreign flavors to it. It's tricky to score this.
    • Nose
      Glenfarclas Christmas. Huge sherry bomb.
Sherry, raisin, plum. Something metallic, sulphuric.
    • Taste
Tastes a bit like it smells like. But the sulphurs now tingle around the mouth much more than anticipated. For such a while, they could almost be a part of the finish. The palate is actually very interesting and rare. Unfortunately, it feels as if it's completely unintentional, reflected on the somewhat misleading nose this whisky gave out. With water, the interesting sulphurs dissipate.
      Add chocolate and cherries.
    • Finish
Either the alcohol, the sulphurs, or both, leave a spiky, stingy sensation for a short while. Otherwise, the finish is somewhat sour, oaky, not unpleasantly, tho. Overall, the finish is a bit bland and short.

    • Nose
Raisins, plums, vanilla, some glue. Oranges, tobacco leaves, a hint of cinnamon. Freshly sawn light wood.
    • Taste
Sherry, orange marmalade, honey, roasted almonds. Earl Gray tea with candy sugar. Sweet nut braid with butter.

Lovely sherry cask influence. Lacks in complexity, but lovely non the less. Reminds me a bit of a Kavalan but without the wood.

I had a bottle of this few years back, purchased in the interest of seeing how they have done with sherry-casks. Well, young and watery sherry, no real body and consistency to speak of. Easily quaffable and light, nothing really off-putting but otherwise quite a lot in line with contemporary Macallan 12 Sherry-oak: inexpressive and rather the standard of a good blend than a malt.

Their distillery in Lahti, Finland is really cute: its in the basement of their restaurant in a building downtown with a roof-height of some 3 metres and a single design-made-to-fit still that is very probably one of the smallest there are.

A tough sale. The idea of giving it more complexity via strong sherry was good but the execution falters. After a tasting few years ago I had it at 81 but now that I've tried a few glasses from a bottle I can't help but downgrade it to 79. It perhaps has its own charm and is the highest I've scored a Teerenpeli, but it is a little too off to earn a solid 80.
    • Nose
The color is very deep but a shade too orange for my liking. A musty, sulfurous nose. It's a little bland, probably due to the 43% strength, and this is cask country, albeit not that of the best possible cask due to the amount of slightly off notes and prominent metal smells. There is toasty oak here but it feels more like a piece of work than a maturation. Occasionally the nose feels ok for a while, then it goes out of joint again.
    • Taste
A dilemma: the body is too thin but there are also unwanted notes that might get louder if the bottling strength was higher. Was 43% the best option available this time? It happens. Along with the prominent but rubbery sherry notes it's a little flowery, almost going into vase water territory thanks to the sulfur's fertilizer-like, earthy notes. A certain dirty oiliness like the backbone grain whisky of a cheap blend comes up sometimes.
    • Finish
A tangy yet otherwise muted finish. The sherry oak is very present but it's also very hollow. The metals just keep going on and on and on. Unbalanced is the word. I'm left thinking of a mini that used to be ok but was stored wrong and has gone flat and metallic as a result.
