  1. Gloin scored this whisky 92 points Expert Senior

The color is very bright for a 34 year old whisky from a sherry barrel, even if it was a refilled one. The smell is incredibly multi-layered, exciting and aromatic, albeit untypical for an old sherry whisky. The taste shows maturity. The old wood dominates the taste and the finish, but in a very gentle way that leaves enough room for the fruit notes. A very mature, very exciting and very successful whisky, but not what you would expect from a 34-year-old sherry barrel. I am fascinated by this whisky.
    • Nose
Immediately, a tightly interwoven multitude of smells penetrate the glass, so closely connected that at first it seems impossible to distinguish them. Very ripe sweet fruits, apple, peach, quince, a hint of banana, but behind it also red fruits, cherry, blackberry. Even if the number of different fruits seems almost infinite, the fruitiness is far from the only element. This is followed by more herbaceous notes, tea, the sweetness gives way a bit acidity, sawdust, yeast, beer. Alcohol is never felt.
    • Taste
Dry and slightly sharp onset. The first association is salt. This is followed by tart-sour fruit notes, cereals, a lot of oak, but hardly a trace of bitterness. Passion fruit, citrus, dried apricots and prunes. Between all the impressions the mature age shows.
    • Finish
Even if the oak dominates the finish, there is hardly any bitterness. The tongue sticks to the palate. Federweisser, grain, malt, warming and tingling the whisky slides down the neck.

Fascinating another old Milton duff, exciting notes that you don't often find together, I like very much, well balanced.
    • Nose
Nice thick nose, maybe. not quite the body you sometimes have with 54%, but still very aromatic, quince, plum, peach, red apple, some sour cherry, rye bread, roiboo tea and some Earl Gray too, beautiful chestnut honey, later also subtle heather grass, very, very round , after some time also great, mushy banana
    • Taste
Aromatic and dry start, heather grass and the tea again, here more towards green tea, malt inlaid in honey, resin, beautiful oak, cereals, cherry stones with sour cherry, quince, red apple, lemon zest, some passion fruit, earl gray, tick coffee beans and dry Leather, here as well as in the nose with a later sip of banana chips, some papaya too, toffee and marzipan
    • Finish
Leather, oak, earl gray, tick cardamom, malt, chestnut, medium length

Great, no day too old and no day too young. Very nice in the balance, it offers a full spectrum of flavors from the nose to the finish. Although the oak is incredibly powerful, it never seems intrusive.
    • Nose
Right at the beginning he vigorously attacks the nose, sherry notes, acid and a pinch of salt are the beginning. After a few minutes of use, the nose appears calm, full, sweet and fruity with a little butter and salt. Light movement brings back the strength and makes for older notes. Pipe tobacco and furniture polish as well as a little bit of dust mix with ripe blood oranges, quince bread papayas and dates. He looks significantly younger than 34 years. When heated, the fruits initially become increasingly immature and slightly acidic, a shift towards red berries. Fully warmed up, the focus is clearly on the heavy oak tones, which are still fruity. Pipe tobacco and fruit tea.
    • Taste
Now he shows his age, powerful and complex, still pleasantly sweet with some mint, thickened fruit juice and a slowly from the rear building oak cargo, Kahlua with cocoa powder, dark rum. The mouthfeel is creamy and full.
    • Finish
A wonderfully long finish follows, in which the oak increasingly gains strength, but only with minimal barrel acid and without becoming too bitter. For a long time a very salty, almond-like nuttiness remains.

seems younger than 34Y. Nice dram but not exceptional. The sherrycask is not very dominant. I like the finish most.

    Tasting notes (Weiser):

Aroma: Beautiful sherry and wood notes. Approximately in the direction of cigar box, sandalwood, beeswax polish. Powerful it is with notes of cognac, orange, molasses and bitter chocolate. A nice "old" dram.

Taste: In older age still quite strong, a touch of Coffee-liqueur. Tons of Oloroso sherry, old books and bitter chocolate.

Finish: Very long, still quite strong, with a nice spicy, woody notes, what wonderful at the age, as well as an unexpected, very subtle saltiness.
