[November 2022] I had this dram during the 20th anniversary tasting of the FoSM club. The complete line-up consisted of 20-years old drams only (Glenfarclas, Rosebank, Longmorn, Bowmore, Bruichladdich, Clynelish and Laphroaig)...

...and this Rosebank offers all what I expect from a fine Lowland malt: Delicious but never overpowering flavours, a harmonious profile and rather shy wooden notes. Or to state it differently "A dram against the grain of the modern whisky zeitgeist".
    • Nose
      89 89
The colour is jonquiripe corn, and the nose offers a subtle and harmonious profile in the best tradition of light Lowland malts. Beside the trademark citric fruits (lemons, oranges) there are fine barley sugars, spices (peppers) and ginseng. Very delicate, and you have to search for the aromas rather that they punch into your olfactory cells.
    • Taste
      90 90
The taste is centred around delicious molten barley sugars which are enhanced by candied citrus, a lot of different spices (vanilla, peppers, ginger, even some salt) and appropriate wooden notes. Not a single flaw or imbalance that I can detect. As with the nose the flavours are not really powerful, but they are tasty, no doubt.
    • Finish
      89 89
The initial mouthfeel is warming with some peppery moments and an okay-ish coating effect. The finish is of medium length and adds some impressions of green tea without distracting moments. Water releases mineral-chalky notes in the nose and turns both taste and finish sweeter, I prefer this dram neat.
