A very elegant, ripe, quiet smell, a bit dusty, like an old book that has not been picked up for a while. The taste continues the mature impression, the soft body is counteracted by tart notes. The finish fits the overall impression. Mature, not smooth, but also gentle, original.
    • Nose
rich caramel and vanilla, but in no way reminiscent of a bourbon, wet wood and earth, a little banana, in the background ripe pear, after a while a little citrus, grapefruit, paper
    • Taste
noticeable onset, very creamy body, slightly astringent, oak, but without bitterness, tart vanilla, unsweetened pancakes, filter coffee
    • Finish
soft and gentle, even if the oak takes over, slight bitterness now, malt, oatmeal, spicy and also a little sweet, like bread, on which one chews long, medium to long

Fantastic nose: honey, mint, peach and spicy notes (like ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon), salted butter, oregano, also some biscuits and quite nutty; great complexity.

Taste: start is very promising with the same sweet honey, nutty, oily, buttery and spicy notes from the nose. The development is much more peppery due to some nippy alcohol.

The finish is longer than expected with again the pepper and all kinds of old oak wood barrel notes (but an almost complete absence of bitterness) developing into a lingering saltyness with sweet honey fruits to keep it company.

I really like these old age bourbon cask type of whiskies. They're so subtle compared to an average dark but rude sherry bomb barging into your senses (especially considering oakiness). I would prefer this anytime.

What a great whisky! Old and fruity, not too much wood. Really great. Sample from Tom @hetwhiskyforum
    • Nose
Old, damp stack of hay, earthy, yellow fruits, honey, vanilla, salty, some wood, some mint
    • Taste
Sweet, mouth filling, oily, vanilla, honey, yellow fruits, red fruits, all swirling in the mouth, great!
    • Finish
Medium long, only slightly bitter. The sweet, honey dipped fruits, slowly move to the back of the tongue and fade away

Ok but a little sharp without water
    • Nose
Candied glazed fruits with caramel and cream. There is some  biscuit in the mix and it is also floral. Hot buttered toast.
    • Taste
Quite spirity, more spirit driven than cask and its hot also. There is a little peach and yellow plum a touch of olive oil
    • Finish
Medium length with some fizziness on the tail.

it is unbalanced in the mouth and on the finish lax and yet spicy, too much alcohol, too few notes, lack of tension the nose and the start are very good
    • Nose
fruity sweet - old school gentle, sensual sweet golden cereal with soft peat maritime notes, salt notes Moor, harbor, apricots, liquorice, he smells that he wants to drink it
    • Taste
the entrance is gentle and lets the nose revive then comes the alcohol and does not allow all notes Sweets, cereals, hay, white chocolate,
    • Finish
medium Again, the same problem with the alcohol as in the mouth the oak comes a bit bitter in the end but he also has a lot of sweetness

The harsh wood notes dominate the whisky for my taste too strong. The nose is awesome, the rest unfortunately oak too.

    • Nose
Much old oak, minimal mushrooming, waxy, fresh, sweet fruit notes, undefined, more late harvest, white autumn or similar. Walnuts still come to my mind. The whisky looks and is old in the nose.
    • Taste
Pure, this whisky is pretty strong. Tingling, fresh, bitter aromas, waxy, a lot of oak. With a drop of water, the aroma is unfortunately almost only fixed on the austere oak, with a few peppery impacts.
    • Finish
Lots of oak and lots of bitter aromas, plus some fruit and a little waxy.

  13. St. Pauli scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Honey, beeswax, vanilla, tropical fruits, wood/resin, lemon sherbet, coriander, fennel seeds and some hay. Pleasant!
    • Taste
Medium sweet, good acidity. Pineapple and unripe banana, lemon juice, honey, vanilla, grass, ginger, resin
    • Finish
Ginger, lemon zest, grass, a faint trace of peach.

Yum. Likes to chew wonderful and long on it. Smacking.
    • Nose
quite closed, without water at first only slightly fresh and spicy, with some water fruity - pineapple, banana, lemon - and after a while come through also vanilla and grainy, sweet notes and roasted aromas
    • Taste
nothing fruit; warming, bittersweet, maple syrup, molasses, licorice, cough syrup, a fleeting memory of rum ... after some getting used to sweet banana
    • Finish
short but pleasant - slightly pearly dark chocolate
