    SMWS Tasting Notes

    Colour: Terracotta blood orange

This was a fascinating dram – hints of varnished or polished wood, but waves of toffee and of fruit (orange, strawberry, red apple, glacé cherries, fruit cake, chocolate limes, fruits in syrup) – plus white pepper, root beer, macadamia nut and shea butter. The unreduced palate was massive and scrummy-yummy-delish – toffee, strawberry jam, orange peel, beeswax, cherry and Tia Maria, all smiling under shimmering winey halos The reduced nose shifted to orange jelly, cherry blossom, pine nuts, coffee, Calvados and old warehouses. The chewy, zesty palate now gratified with fabulous fudge and rose petals floating in maple syrup. The distillery opened in 2000.
