  1. Sphexish scored this whisky 90 points Member Senior

Tasted from a 2cl sample. Extra-interesting not just for being from the sixties, but for being a rare specimen of really old non-sherry-matured Glenf*****s.The slight woodiness is what prevents the score from going above 90, but it was close! In terms of previously tasted bottles, this profile reminded me of Black Bull 40 yo and Glen Keith from 1970, albeit smoother and more powerfully flavorful than the former and slightly less deliciously fruity, honeyed and pineapple-y than the latter.
    • Nose
Really enjoyable nose, featuring smooth bananas, lots of tropical fruits, and a whiff of vanilla. Opens up a lot more given time, growing sweeter and even more fruity.
    • Taste
In line with the nose at first, with creamy bananas and fruity flavors, with some candied pineapple showing up. Subtle without feeling weak or diluted. Then there's a surprising kick of spices, with a few oaky notes showing.
    • Finish
The oak fades away and it finishes in style, leaving a lingering taste of all the kind of fruits one loves to find in seriously old, bourbon-cask-matured whisky.
