  1. aphex scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

An excellent heavy sherry Port Ellen where the active cask doesn't overpower the distillate.
    • Nose
Heavy sherry ? Yeah. Tobacco, underwoods (damp earth, mushrooms), coffee, dark chocolate, citrus (oranges, lemons), roasted nuts, peat and bonfire smoke. A bit compact.
    • Taste
Strong and sharp. Tobacco and coffee notes, roasted nuts again. Various citrus (lemons and oranges). Dark chocolate. Dried fruits. Pepper and cloves. Sooty notes. Drying and slightly bitter.
Let's try a few drops of water. Nose is more smoky and tarry, slightly farmy too. A few aromatic herbs. Palate is more fruity with citrus and some red and dark fruits.
    • Finish
Loooong, lingering sherry notes (fruits, tobacco, coffee) and smoke.
