  1. Archer scored this whisky 79 points Connoisseur

    On the nose there are differences in the fruit aromas. Spock is a bit spicier on the tongue, but Kirk is a bit fuller of character. However, the differences are not so significant that one of the two could be shown to be outright better than the other. A draw.

      Comparison with Cragganmore 2005 (https://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/101191/cragganmore-2005)

      Spock = Cragganmore 1990

      Kirk = Cragganmore 2005 Spock: Orange zest, almond oil, hazelnut, lots of malt & grain. A bit waxy, but overall rather airy and fruity.

      Kirk: Clearer in the orange note than Spock. Less nutty, less almond, malt and grain aromas in something the same. In addition to the fruit, also floral with a slight scent of tulips.
    • Taste
      79 79
      Spock: Mild start with the aromas of the nose: nuts, almonds, oranges, toffee, cocoa, milk chocolate. Later wood pulls through and a slight pepper spiciness becomes noticeable.
      Kirk: Creamy and a little fuller (more voluminous would be too much) on the tongue than S. Here, too, toffee candy, cocoa, milk chocolate with nuts, milk coffee. Less peppery than Spock, also less wood content.
    • Finish
      78 78
      Spock a little more spicy, Kirk a little finer.
