      deepest cocoa, cognac (sweet), Espresso, darkest chocolate, freshly peeled oranges, mocha, old leather bag, cherries, very deep, cigar tobacco, raisins, with rum raisins covered orange pieces, acacia honey, chocolate coated coffee beans, hints of spicy smoke (... becomes more …), Sherry cask opens up: beautiful and aromatic, ... you do not get enough of it! ..., Pattex, freshly roasted coffee, subtle and round vanilla (incorporated), flat dark brown Christmas cookies (?), cherry jam, caramel pudding, roasted almonds and nuts, lemonade powder, softness ...
    • Taste
      fruity-sweet tingling, citrus, leather saddle, smoke comes (heavy, full), initially certain freshness, Cognac, a lot of chocolate (fine-herb), pickled plums, cherry, old clothes, old billiard hall, vanilla pudding, iced coffee, at the beginning inklings of honey, petrol, charred wood, hints of peat, skin of smoked fish ...
    • Finish
      citrus, ginger, cognac (full), sherry cask, chocolate (dark), some smoke, pickled plums, some tobacco, pear skins, grape skins, grapes, wood rises directly on (spicy, 'rough'), tobacco leaves, honey & fruits late pepper, 'dream dram', ... also some salt, walnut shells ...

      Raisins, flowery, light grapes, kiwi, caramel, tobacco, pepper, honey, honeydew melon, cherries.
    • Taste
      Nutty, creamy, coffee, wild honey, caramel, light smoke, tobacco, vanilla, yellow fruit, cherries, orange peel, slightly salty.
    • Finish
      The slightly tarter notes remain in the mouth for a long time. The spice combined with gentle bitterness and a hint of smoke. The sweetness fades away bit by bit.

    Colour: vibrant gold (?) Nose: wow!
    Again lots of flowers and honey, but
    with lots of added fruits like banana,
    pineapple, melon… Superb. Smells
    like a fruit salad with honey. Hints
    of wood and caramel, Really fantastic.
    What freshness! It smells almost like
    a great Sauternes. Mouth: oh yes,
    Highland Park is more like this. Creamy,
    nutty, fruity (mirabelle, quince jelly).
    Lots of light toffee, cappuccino,
    Bailey’s (or rather like an
    Alexander). Lots of strong honey (chestnut,
    fir). Keeps developing on lavender
    creme, crystallised oranges, dates…
    Superb, even if very smooth. Long
    finish, on candy sugar. Always a winner.

    Highly aromatic - real Whisky !

    You can immediately find real old Sherry casks which give this spirit adventurous depth and richness.

    You can nose this forever but at the same time it is so appetizing, you could drink it right from the beginning as well!

    Every component is accessible at any point - over time it only gets more and more aromatic.

    Certainly one of our favorites!

    Unfortunately HP does not produce this quality in their (e.g. 18 yo) Whisky now (2014) - I sincerely hope that this may change over time and that there will be some real quality Whiskies for an affordable (the actual 18 yo is around 100 bucks I presume?) price from this distillery.

    Because this old one is simply profound quality!

    Tasting with Armin Fuchs, Wolfi Wolf, Piep Linkerton, Wootan Hippo van Rheen and Ururu Ruh (especially Ururu, who normally does not enjoy single malt, fell in love with this).
    • Nose
      Old Sherry cask, oranges, fresh peeled oranges, lemon juice, tangrines (peel), cherries, cherry jam, plums, pickled plums, plum jam, dried apricots, raisins, honey, chocolate (noble milk and tart), cocoa powder, mocha, heavily roasted coffee bean, some demarara sugar, toffee (in combination with coffee and/or chocolate), leibnitz wholemeal and chocolate cookie, abrasive milk,furniture polish, wood, spices, brandy bean, cognac, hair spray, balanced alcohol, leather bag;

      ... and as well (but not a tiny bit separated!): peat, maritime and coastal notes, pepper, salt, lubricating oil
    • Taste
      peat, lemon juice, peeled oranges slices, some honey, blackberries, blueberries, cherry, plums, hints of rhubarb, dark chocolate, old Sherry cask, 'old' flavors, long lasting, fiery as well, espresso powder, cocoa powder, spices, wood, cognac
    • Finish
      orange, dark chocolate with a certain sweetness, old Sherry cask, plums, brandy beans, cognac, wood, spices and some herbs, hints of honey again, peat

    They don't make them like this anymore.
    • Nose
      Its fruity, its sweet, its savoury, its smoky and coastal, it's a good'un! Honey notes, burning heather with seabreeze in the background.
    • Taste
      Sweet, salty and then back to sweet, the honey arrives immediately and quickly picks up burning heather, the smoke hanging around with some burning wood.
    • Finish
      Coal and smoke, some heather and sweet honey hanging out.

    There is a lot of version of the batches, it's a dynamic, fruity one.

      Sherry, peat, fruit, spicy oak and salted caramel.
    • Taste
      Powerful and creamy. Lot of fruits, sherry, peat and smoke, spices.
    • Finish
      Long, fruity, spicy.

    Nose: sherry, smoke, chocolate, moka, herbs, wax, chocolate orange cake

    Mouth: bold attack, quite thick, everything from the nose with sherry waves, each wave adding flavours, first chocolate, then coffee and afterwards raisins.  Other dried fruits are added as well plus maple syrup, dark honey and tobaco leaves.Finish: not the longest but the transformation of flavours on the mouth lasted quite long
