    • Nose
intense sherry; sweet; Caramel; Syrup; distinct fruits; spices; a touch of citrus; a trace of oak can be recognized; with water, the citrus note is stronger and it is characterized by a light fruitiness; Nevertheless, the toffee note remains present.
    • Taste
strong start; Sherry; sweet; fruity; spicy; slightly oak and slightly dry; Caramel; Citrus (sweet orange) and a certain heaviness in the mouth
    • Finish
Long; a touch of citrus; bittersweet, beautiful oak; the fruits come again; ripe orange; clear sherry again; with water comes out a touch of nuts; becoming bitter towards the end

  2. DramGoodLife scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

A heavily sherried whisky with class.
    • Nose
Reluctant at first but with a little air the casks start to do some talking. Lovely notes of citrus with a touch of raisin here and there. A big helping of brown sugar with chopped maraschino cherries.
    • Taste
On the palate a slow build up, the heavy sherry notes keep it calm till a big helping of cinnamon rushes in. Followed by chocolate sprinkles, delicate oak notes and caramel.
    • Finish
Burnt sugar, caramel, big serving of oak with a wisp of smoke.

  4. GlenSikkes did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

The famous GlenDronach 18 year old, now renamed Allardice, is the third expression in the GlenDronach core range. This exceptional single sherried malt is non chill filtered and of natural colour. Matured in the finest Spanish Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 46%, this sublime richly sherried malt is truly unforgettable.

Tasting Notes and Comments by GlenDronach
    • Nose
Sweet aromatics of fudge and muscovado sugar. Fruit compote and glacier morello cherries provide added complexity.
    • Taste
Rich dark and seductive. Remarkable flavours of stewed fruits and all-spice marry together with classical aged Oloroso and toasted walnut bread and chocolate orange.
    • Finish
      Tremendously complex and long.

  5. KayMeertens scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

A lighter fruitiness than the more treacly 15- and 21-year-old. But when I compared this one to the earlier Lot5 from 2010, it is very apparent how much darker the profile of this batch is. Possibly a lot of 1993 whisky in here, which tends to have this character.
    • Nose
Plum, dark cherry, orange, almond, raisin, coffee, tobacco, vanilla and candy cane. A little glue as well initially, which turns into ripe kaki and apricot later. The latter gives the impression that there's some stuff in here that's actually older than 18 years.
    • Taste
Plum, orange, cherry, mocha, kaki and raspberry.
    • Finish
Dark chocolate, cherry, roasted almond, orange and melon.

I’m a GlenDronach fan. Its quality is impeccable and so far, all of their whiskies have hit my sweet spot. Highly recommended!
    • Nose
A little ‘darker’, except it is less balanced and, yet just as delicious as the nose of the Revival.
    • Taste
Strong fruit-cake aroma, with dark ripe berries and raisins. It is very
sugary and drives salivation immensely. The tannins are a little more
prominent in this one as the 18 years might suggest.
    • Finish
Similar to the 15-yo Revival – just as long, a little sweeter, and with more pronounced sherry notes.

One dram blind note. The ultimate whisky for enjoying on a boat
    • Nose
Cocoa, molasses, tar, teak oil, vanilla, a thin smoke veil appears, bassets wine gum and banana.
    • Taste
Spicy, figs, rum, chocolate fudge and christmas sweets. Water makes it sweeter
    • Finish
Long smooth and mouth coating finish.

  9. Malt Hans scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Woody and spicy aroma, nutmeg, resin, cloves, red apples, warehouse, fermented tea leaves, vanilla and heather honey. Vanilla sweet taste, pepper, eucalyptus, orange marmalade, cinnamon, vanilla and demerara sugar. Medium long, spicy and fruity end.

  10. Ivynor scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

A good glendronach, but quite different from Revival and Parliament. A tone below. It seems more "young" and less marked by sherry.
    • Nose
Very expressive, very "glendronach" (I hope you will thank me for this detail of a very high precision). Fade, sweet, woody, with traces of spices and green fruits. It makes me think of an old armagnac.
    • Taste
Quite melted and unctuous (caramel), despite some spikes of bitterness come to disrupt the beautiful set.
    • Finish
      Always Armagnac: wood, prunes, spices.
