Whisky Reviews for Michter's US*1 Small Batch Bourbon

7 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 82.49 points

  1. Calmar scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

Good, simple and simple whiskey, a drinking option, but the price tag is not happy, the barrel Blantons will come out a little more expensive, but this is a product in a class higher or the same 4 roses are much cheaper to come out with comparable quality.
    • Nose
Open, wet, fat, oiled leather, carpentry workshop, needles, wet dog hair, solvent, raw potatoes, eucalyptus.
    • Taste
Acid-resinous, young needles, caramel, fresh wood, lacquer notes.
    • Finish
Spicy, slightly sour, oak, oily, orange peel, lemon in tea.

  2. AdelphosHume scored this whisky 81 points Expert Senior

Simple but pleasant. A good benchmark for decent bourbon.
    • Nose
Chocolate (milk and dark), mixed dried fruits, and cherries.
    • Taste
Caramel and cherries, milk oak, and brown sugar.
    • Finish
      Chocolate and orange liqueur.

  4. WhiskyLovingPianist scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

N: Familiar, rounded bourbon that I think could easily pass for a reasonably aged grain whiskey in first fills.

    T: Standard corn led bourbon.

    F: Par

C: Good standard, everyday drinker, nothing spectacular. Certainly doesn’t live up to the current hype of Michter’s in general in the last few years [2016], but then much of that fuss is about the 10-20yo’s. Certainly a popular for bartenders.

    Scores a C

    I have to admit that
I expected a bit more, especially with the slightly higher ABV. But for me,
    this is an ordinary bourbon.
    • Nose
      There is clearly some
rye in the mix, for the nose is very spicy. Think cinnamon and
nutmeg. Fruitwise I am reminded of the dried variety of apricots and peach. This
nose is more than okay, but somewhat closed.
    • Taste
      The arrival is syrupy
and extremely sweet. Candied sugar, baked apples and the fruit from the nose:
apricots and peach. Midpalate the spices kick in. Apart from cinnamon and
cloves, I also get some black pepper.
    • Finish
      The finish is rather
      short, but remains spicy.

  6. Blo scored this whisky 81 points Expert Senior

Typically bourbonny. Not extremely complex but pleasant. Good quality bourbon.
    • Nose
Very bourbony. Caramel and sugar. After the Sour Mash nose this is clearly under...
    • Taste
.. But the mouth is definitely better than the Sour Mash's one. More punchy and expressive.
    • Finish
Middle long on sugary and bananas notes.

  7. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

nice, not too soft bourbon with kick (Batch L14E218)
    • Nose
Honey, vanilla, a hint of dried fruit, slightly spicy (cinnamon, a bit spicy?)
    • Taste
sweet - caramel, honey, then baked sugar, lightly burnt cake, a little peppery pungency
    • Finish
long, burnt sugar, dark chocolate, pepper
