- n: Sweet, caramel, wood, red fruit, hints of peat
t: Slow and strong, honey sweet initially, then woody, and finally some smoke/peat tones. Fruity all over.
f: Long and warm. Oaky. Midly bitter.
Took some time to get used to this not-so-Islay Islay whisky, but I like it a lot. It seemed to get better over time. I took 3/4 year to empty the bottle.
- Colour : Gold
Smell : Spicy, with hints of wood
Taste : Spicy, honey, citrus, peat
- Darach Ur (pronounced Dar-ach oor) means "New Oak" in Scots Gaelic. That`s the new oak barrels used to mature this perfectly balanced mix of Bunnahabhain single malts. The guarded recipe is from our Master Distiller, Ian MacMillan. It`s a first in over 125 years of tradition at Bunnahabhain. The oak barrels are from a family run cooperage in Bardstown, Kentucky. Any yes, this is the first time they have been used for maturing single malt Scotch whisky. Only available exclusively in World Duty Free, Darach Ur is un-chillfiltered and retains its natural colour, with a higher strength ensuring the fresh sweetness of the oak is retained from barrel to bottle.
Nutty. Fruity. Intense. Cider apples. Some orange peel.
Rosehips and a slightly syrupy quality. Chewy, glossy, gingery.
Warm, dry and soothing on nutty notes.
Sweet aromas of candied peaches, apricots and ripe banana with spicy notes and background mature oak
Fresh, sweet aromas of vanilla, walnuts and citrus fruit with an intense flavor of oak complemented with hints of clove and pepper
A long and bitter sweet aftertaste with fruity notes
