- A rather loud representative of the Macduff distillery, who, at the age of 14, was still quite young and presents himself all along with a rich fruit.
Undiluted he has for me the blemish of slightly alcoholic touch, diluted it is quite good malt, which can also stand up in the midst of strong islay malts.
First, a mix of fruits (Granny Smith apple, so slightly acidic) and Werther's original in the nose makes wide, the fruity clearly outweighs. This pretty young Macduff comes undiluted very strong over with a not always completely concealed alcoholic note. Over time, a good dose of malt soil and, consequently, something (hazelnut) nut fights through.
A few drops of water make the initially perceived alcohol disappear without otherwise changing the fruit character.
Now also superficially malty. The slightly sour fruity flower continues on the palate. The good 61% show for my taste undiluted a tick too clearly. However, he tolerates water well and thus tends slightly away from the sour and towards the nuttiness of the nose. Nevertheless, he remains a strong and slightly bissiger journeyman, which can be in a Tasting therefore also well in the rear area of the line ups to install.
Pleasantly long and again with whole fruit load.
