    From Whiskyfun:

Bowmore 14 yo 1997/2012 (51.8%, Whisky-Fässle, Duck Edition, bourbon hogshead)  Who’s a duck? ;-) Colour: straw. Nose: the cleanest, the purest kind of young Bowmore. It’s all simple, but it’s all great. Sea air, lemon, oysters and just touches of grey pepper and lemon grass. With water: as usual, Bowmore’s farmy side comes out with water. Farmyard, hay… Mouth (neat): wonderful sweet peat. Smoky tangerines and passion fruits, with something that reminds me of the 1960s at Bowmore. We’ll see if we can try some 1960s Bowmore a little later… Also some brine, delicately so. With water: perfect. Grapefruit juice with a little salt. Manzanilla! Finish: long, clean, pure, wilder. Organic peat (yeah I know). Comments: wonderfully chiselled, without any of the estery/violety notes that could be found in earlier distillation. Warning, this baby’s extremely moreish. SGP:456 - 90 points.

    • Nose
first of: saffron, leather, cereal, hardly sweet at all, (87)
after a very short time: sweet notes now dominate - lemon & lemon infused olive oil, vanilla pastry/cookies, wet oak, vanilla concentrate/syrup, more leather polish than leather now, also some nougat/hazelnut creme, puffed rice & a touch of clean machine oil (occasionally with a very slight metallic touch) (88)
w water: more fruity, more oranges than lemon here, also orange blossom (& maybe a bit of honey thereof), although, there's still something lemon-y as well, lemon curd. Very fresh now. Also with a bit of sea-spray  (salt & cold water) (89)
    • Taste
oily & smoky, toasted cereal, faint lemon, (87)
w water: quite smoky, surprisingly so after the citrus nose. Cool feel to it. A bit thin despite only a few drops of water. (86)
Seems to play better with more water. Oily, oranges & orange oily, salty, mineral, some faint gunmetal oil, some faint salty licorice underneath the oranges. (88)
    • Finish
smokyness seems to increase further, thins out a bit first, then the alc strength comes through, some vanilla (& pastry again), a sprinkle of lemon, but smoke is the dominating element. (87)
w water: more smoke, now the lemon comes through as well, but plays much quieter than the smoke. Long. After a while a few mineral notes come to play as well. (88)

Excellent balance of the coastal Islay character with a sweeter roundness. Great selection, recommended.
    • Nose
A mild peatiness and big, fresh, coastal notes (seaweed, wet sand on a shore). A hint of leather. Develops a nice sweetness in the background (lime, yellow plums) as well as soft medicinal notes. Excellent balance. Less fruity than the great Bowmore 1993 releases but it has a similar roundness and elegance.
    • Taste
Again relatively smooth. Starts on round notes (sweet lemon, hints of vanilla and cinnamon) mixed with clean peat. Some briny notes. Hints of camphor and liquorice. High all-round quality.
    • Finish
Long, minty and peppery with lingering peat.
