Whisky Reviews for Isle of Jura 1992 DT

Usually I'm not that fond of Jura, but this one is nice and complex.
    • Nose
Green tea. Apple peeling. Leafy. Wet stones. Flowery notes of freesias as well. Smokiness at the background.
    • Taste
Quite sharp and astingent. More on citrus fruit of lemon and lime now. Cranberries and goosberries. Grappa like.
    • Finish
Medium long. Zesty. Grapefruit bitterness. Oaky. A little pepper.

  2. Ing Tretti scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Dry mint, wet stones and ropes, quite a mineralic undertone. Sour yellow fruits. A slight vanillic touch in the background, but for me altogether typically Jura.
    • Taste
Starts nice with lemon tarts, builds up in sharpness, getting slightly "dirty": showing grapes sprinkled with engine oil. Mineralic. Coastal character.
    • Finish
Very long herbal finish with notes of wet earthy moss, green tea and nettle tea. Leaves with a dry aftertaste.

Lacks a little power considering it is 52% but I liked it.
    • Nose
Lemon, peach in syrup, flower stems freshly cut, warm cookies,
    • Taste
Peat mixed with brine and lemon curd is my initial impression but it then gets a little flat in the middle and its gets dryer.

A few biscuit notes but the lemon curd persists (which I like) and the sweet lemon notes grow.
    • Finish
A little shorter than expected but its a decent length and pleasantly sweet.

    interesting Jura!
    • Nose
fruity - apricot, citrus, mint, leather, herbs - basilicum, tea, chocolate and ginger
    • Taste
oily, vanilla, chocolate, nuts, leather and heath
    • Finish
spices - cloves and nutmeg, peach tea, mint and caramel
