A side shot of Ardnamurchan's Paul Launois releases, but this time released for the distillery club.
This release seems to be in line with Ardnamurchan's unpeated profile. Fruit, a bit of salt and minerality and then something heavier than usual.

Beautiful, deep color that brings to mind amber and golden mead.

Warm nose. We're in the sweet, baked pie crust department. Deep fruits, like juice boiled down to syrup. Overripe apples, beaten fruit or moist grain. There's something almost meaty on the nose, like Italian ham or salami. A little spicy from the dish.
After a while, a nice pineapple note emerges in the background, bringing a little acidity and freshness.
It's a heavier and more malt-driven Paul Launois than we're used to. That suits it.
    • Taste
      87 87
Fruit - lots of it! Pickled peaches and fresh, dark apricots.
Medium mouthfeel, fluctuating between sweetness, light tannins, a cooling sensation (probably due to the abv strength).

I'm a big fan of Paul Launois bottlings and this one doesn't disappoint. It's a bit heavier and meatier than I remember the others. It suits it to have a robust body. Over the next while I think it will open up more towards the fruitiness and the barrel will probably fade a bit.
    • Finish
      86 86
Long, fruity, sweet aftertaste. The pickled peaches win and the syrup from the peaches brings a slight bitterness.
