  1. dercaptain scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

A pleasantly mature Speyside whisky that, despite its high alcohol content, conveys a surprising amount of character. The combination of grain, dried fruit, chocolate, and spicy oak is harmonious and well-balanced. If I had to make a recommendation based on the profile, my first thought would be Knockando.
    • Nose
      84 84
Initially, pleasantly grainy aromas emerge, reminiscent of fresh oats and malt. These are followed by delicate chocolate nibs and a basket of dried fruits – particularly raisins, dates, and a hint of apricot. With some time in the glass, a subtle wood note develops, adding further depth to the whisky.
    • Taste
      87 87
Despite its relatively moderate 40% ABV, this whisky is surprisingly expressive. A fruity sweetness initially dominates the palate, reminiscent of dried berries and ripe fruit. As it develops, slightly dusty, almost antique cellar aromas emerge, lending the whisky a pleasant maturity. This is accompanied by well-integrated wood spice with hints of oak and a touch of cinnamon.
    • Finish
      86 86
Medium to long finish, with lingering fruit notes, dry oak and a gentle spiciness that fades slowly.
