Whisky Reviews for Bunnahabhain 1968 DT

6 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 88.72 points

  1. Jean-Brice scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

The nose is top, the mouth suffers from a deficiency of lack of body and a little brouillone. It remains a very good whisky.
    • Nose
      Fruity, woody, spicy (coriander), melted
    • Taste
Woody, a little alcoholic, aqueux, slight bitterness gentian type in the middle and end of mouth
    • Finish
      average on wood, vanilla, spices

  2. KayMeertens scored this whisky 86 points Specialist

Blind tasting of a sample. Would have expected more of this one.
    • Nose
Wine gum, pear, peach, vanilla, limestone and a little caramel.
    • Taste
Pear, caramel, lime, orange. Somewhat meaty. With water a little ginger.
    • Finish
      Caramel, pear, lime and peach.

  3. MaltMartin scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Cross-comparison with the Bunnahabhain 1968 DT #11571 (43,1%). That one got some more tropical fruitness. Still a very good and well balanced Bunna from their magic year 1968 (as it seems).
    • Nose
Delicate oakiness of sandal wood. Sugared almonds. Floral notes as well (lilac and violet). Tropical fruit of pineapple and mango at the background.
    • Taste
Overripe pears. Bananas. Slightly citric (lemon and lime). Also vanilla and honey. Orange peel. Later on carraway and aniseed. Complex imo.
    • Finish
Medium long. Cinnamon. A little pepper. Woody. Mint.

the nose is the best part: it reminds me of good Caol Ila from the seventies.

The palate is a bit weak, but has some nice spices, vanilla and wood  88p.

    sample from www.whiskysample.nl
    • Nose
dusty, spices, orange, pine resin, bitter fruits, vanilla and some charcoal
    • Taste
syrup, some bourbon fruits, vanilla, oaky and spices
    • Finish
medium drying with vanilla, nougat, citrus, creamy and spices

    Color:

    Gold
    supported Nose:

    Notes
    pastry, marzipan and pasta.

    Pretty
full and sweet nose, vanilla then evolves to fresh fruits
    and the pineapple.

    Nose
    similar to a Balblair. Stuffy:

    We
found vanilla then spices, especially cinnamon.

    Not
    very complex and undefined.
