Whisky Reviews for Glenlivet 1972 Minmore CA

3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 88.57 points

  1. Rustamich did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Just lacks some depth. All a bit nervy, but worth seeking out.
    • Nose
Incredibly sweet and estery. Lemon, candy floss, Sugar Puffs, honey, mint, touch of smoke and cocoa. The oak emerges with water but ends up slightly flat with time.
    • Taste
Lemon-fresh and sugary sweet all the way. Cinnamon. Just a dab of water is needed here.
    • Finish
      Light but intense.

  2. MaltMartin scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Very interesting whisky with a profile you don't come accross that much anymore.
    • Nose
Old and dusty. Nail polish. Sawn oak. Apicots, peach but also Green apples. Whiff of smoke.
    • Taste
Very juicy. Orange marmelade. Strawberries. Rich oak. A bit astringent.
    • Finish
Spices of nutmeg and pepper. Cloves.

  3. nulty scored this whisky 89 points Expert Senior

Very nice nose, fine, classy and complex. The palate is a bit off, nice flavors but a little shy. Still, it is a very beautiful sherry. Tasted blind.
    • Nose
Fruity organic sherry. Pell-mell, we have humus, a little sherry vinegar, quetsches, cherries, raspberries, coniferous sap, a delicate and spicy woody (mustard, clove). All this is wrapped in a beautiful smoke, well present and seems to offer some maritime notes (dry seaweed).
    • Taste
Attack on vinegar, spices (nutmeg). We then go on wood, rather classy and not bitter. Tobacco, Christmas tree on January 5th, potting soil, fruits too (quetsches, prunes). Always this beautiful smoke, voluptuous and discreet maritime accents (rocks, beach sand).
    • Finish
Long, smoke, a little salty, PX sherry.
