  1. Tommyknocker scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Now for the last one from this year's "Brühl 8" collection. I noticed that, with the exception of Oloroso and Fino, all the common sherry varieties were cask-aged. One could also rename this tasting "A Sherry Study." Clever and well-executed.

This Ledaig has indeed been tamed by the Palo Cortado, and the result is convincing, but it's still not a "hit" like the 2004 casks.

The Palo Cortado and the 16 years of maturation have actually managed to tame the Ledaig somewhat. The distinct smoke complements the nutty, milk-chocolate notes of the sherry, rather than the smoky smokiness one would normally expect from Ledaig.

Here too, lovely sweet notes of sherry at first, salty Nutella bread, then meatier, a little more smoke over time

A balanced picture between the chocolatey sweetness of the barrel and the salty, meaty Ledaig lingers quite a long time.
