    • Nose
      92 92
Very creamy and fruity: orchard and tropical fruits, peach, pear, mango, ripe apple, pineapple, canned tangerine, dried apricot, slight coconut, banana sweets, merengue, pecan nuts, almonds, sugar biscuits, honey comb, subtle wood notes like nutmeg, mild ginger and a very faint cinnamon at the back.
    • Taste
      91 91
Creamy and oily in the mouth, juicy tropical fruits like mano, peach and pineapple, canned citrus (more towards lemon now), pear, apple, banana behind that, all drizzled with thick honey, sweet nuttiness (sugared almonds), sugarbread. Very well balanced with a nice subtle spiciness to it: mild pepper, clove, ginger and a whiff of mint on top.
    • Finish
      91 91
Long: more honey, syrupy tropical fruit, peach, pineapple, coconut, sweet citrus, bitter nuts, a bit of sweet red liquorice, drying on a more of a dusty wood spice.

Elegant whisky, but not the typical Bunna character.
    • Nose

Floral. Waxy fruits, honey, mint, banana and varnished wood.
    • Taste

Not your usual Bunna more like a Springbank. very nice.
    • Nose
Cough sweets, honey, menthol, mango and the longer you leave it the fruitier it gets. Apricots and peaches arrive with a hint of vanilla.
    • Taste
Zesty, tons of fruit, mango, melon, peach,  custard cream biscuits, then some orange, light and zesty
    • Finish
Quite long with a nice lingering sweetness.

This is the kind of whisky which must be enjoyed slowly. Complex and elegant, it needs time to be fully appreciated.
    • Nose
      92 92
A bit closed at first. Notes of varnish and fruits. Within a few minutes, we can pinpoint the fruits : apples, peaches, whiffs of banana. There's some honey too and subtle notes of oak. More time gives resinous and red fruits notes. Complex, subtle and flavory. Very elegant.
    • Taste
      92 92
Oaky and fruity. The oak is under control with just a few spices. The fruits bring a nice sweetness and freshness. Oranges, yellow fruits, bananas. Vanilla. A pinch of salt.
    • Finish
      92 92
Medium, herbal, minty and slightly salty.

Bottles like this makes whisky more than a hobby. This creates it into a passion. You don't drink whiskies like this everyday, but if you find something of this quality it keeps you going for months!
    • Nose
Aaaah! That fruity Bunna 68 smell! Oh man, I could nose this for days! First of all a lot of \ fruits: pears, peaches and I think I detect some kiwi. Some melon in there as well and maybe some coconut. Second of all there is wax in it, very creamy. Lots of wood oils as well. A nice subtle oaky touch. Nose also has a floral feel to it. An ultimate round nose. So subtle, though fully flavoured. Just lovely.
    • Taste
A lot of body for its age. Again, sooo good. Nice tingly mouthfeel and mouthcoating (not very thick/oily, but very fully flavoured). More fruits and some spices are introduced. I'm thinking anyseed. A bit more woody then the nose, but not too much. Again very well balanced.
    • Finish
Really long, with white fruits and light spices.

Bunnahabhain 43 yo 1968/2011 'Dram Together' (46.5%, The Whiskyman, 120 bottles)
Colour: pale gold. Nose: this baby seems to be cleaner, purer,
straighter than the others, although it’s a bit shy at first nosing. The
fruits are clean and fresh, not overripe at all, and they include cider
apples, white peaches and greengages. Yes we’re pretty far from the
tropics this time, even if there are a few bananas, then honey, leather,
raisins, hazelnuts and pine sap. It’s very elegant, complex old
Bunnahabhain. Something coastal after quite a few minutes (seaweed).
Mouth: just a very clean, very straightforward and extremely fresh fruit
salad. A miracle at such old age. Spice mix for mulled wine, then some
manzanilla, with quite some salt. Finish: medium long, creamy, on
liqueurs and a little mint. Salty and lemony aftertaste. Comments: this
wonderful oldie remained as fresh as a newborn baby, yet it became very
complex. Fascinating how the oak got integrated despite the spirit’s
    relative lightness. SGP:751 - 92 points.

A briljant dram, very much in the floral section.
    • Nose
Flowery, perfuming, fruity, floral and later: There he is, the typical Bunnahbhain profile can be detected
    • Taste
Surprisingly powerful, floral, briny, vanilla type flavors
    • Finish
Mild, spicy, fruity and some (milk) acidity

This proves once again that Dominique's selections are not to my taste.
    • Nose
Great, but really great. It's fruity (mostly exotic fruits), vanilla, almond flavor (like an almond cake)
    • Taste
Without adding water: just like the nose, always great. With a few drops of water: what a difference! This Bunna becomes very bitter. Yuk! The exotic fruit is always there, but the flavors are camouflaged by the bitter taste. It also lacks a bit of 'punch' AMHA. If I had known that everything became bitter after a few drops of water, I had never done it. What a pity and what a surprise that the flavor of this Bunna has changed so much.
    • Finish
Always this bitterness (m * rde then), dry, a little licorice.

Nose: Heavy, sea salt butter, salty green
Olives, tropical fruit with mango and papaya, underlaid
Vanilla notes, also fruit gums and light notes of
    hazelnuts

Taste: Soft, sweet and clean start,
Honey notes, malty-bitter wood flavors, dull wood-leather combination
with a green freshness that is bitterly underlaid; Herbs, chicory and menthol.
Finish: Long, interplay between bitter wood flavors and a malty honey notes, salt-wood herbs, mint and Grapefruitfrische.
    90 points (nose: 92 / taste: 88 / finish: 89)

  22. Ivynor scored this whisky 91 points Expert Senior

Superb whisky, although the years have lost the power of this collection. Too bad, especially for the final.
    • Nose
Curious to taste that. Thanks to Tomy for this rare half sample ...

On the nose, a beginning of Woodford Reserve (but it's better, I reassure you): A little glue, solvent, then after aeration, bitter almond essence. The whole is very melted. There are also woody and floral touches, vanilla and cooked cake.
    • Taste
Mouth quite sweet and fat (butter) also reminding a little cake, cream, candied. It's ultra melted and very greedy.

    • Finish
Long, very thin, more on caramel and candied.

  23. WhiskyNotes scored this whisky 92 points Expert Senior

This is elegant and complex, down the same alley as the releases from The Whisky Agency or Whisky-Fässle. High class stuff.
    • Nose
Wonderfully honeyed with hints of waxed furniture. Pureed apricots, ripe banana
and pear sherbet. Stewed yellow plums. Fig jam. Strawberries. Very warm and
slightly tropical. After a while some very light resin and a little mint.
      Superbly elegant.
    • Taste
Quite gentle. More oaky than on the nose, but still within boundaries. Sweet oranges, banana again, raisins. Hints of figs and even violet syrup. Cinnamon and quite a lot of mint. Oak resin. Grows a bit mossy with hints of tobacco leaves. Tiny coastal notes as well.
    • Finish
Not extremely long, but nicely sweet and herbal. Mint and liquorice.
