This is a beautiful Glenlossie. Maybe the best one I have ever had. The nose is incredible- deep and sweet, waxy and packed with potential; the taste itself is great, although a bit unusual. I taste fruit, spring grasses and something cardboard like. It's a bit funky, but good. The finish is amazing- days gone by with mandarins and soldier cookies. Wauwi, this dram is a threat! Thanks a lot Maltbarn!
    • Nose
      94 94
A lush, full nose opens with a gentle, sun-warmed sweetness, evoking a spring day where the scent of tall grasses weaves through the crisp, fleshy ripeness of fruit hanging heavy on the trees. There’s a slight edge at first, a delicate acidity that lifts a note of white peach.

With a touch of oxidation, the aromatic profile shifts. The brightness softens and the acidity recedes, making way for deeper, more textured notes of beeswax, vanilla, and a faint hint of linoleum.

Slightly bitter, a touch of wood, with a gentle sharpness. There’s sweetness too. This whisky is a pleasure, yet it diverges from the nose; where the nose was generous and warm, the palate is more restrained, composed, almost contemplative.

The texture is full and refined, but carries a faint echo of an 'old attic', something reminiscent of dry cardboard. Not unpleasant, just unexpected, adding an unusual layer to the experience.

With oxidation, the taste truely opens; more fruit emerges, the white peach from the nose returns, brushing again against that image of tall spring grass. The cardboard note lingers, though now it feels structural, like a backbone holding everything together.

It’s enjoyable, certainly, and intriguingly singular. Alcohol punch. But nothing aggressive. All well integrated. The evolution in the glass is slow, revealing itself in quiet shifts. There’s much to explore here, and it holds the attention… though it leaves a subtle sense of longing, as if something remains just out of reach.

Beautiful finish, clever and smart - with vanilla, yes... And 'old attick', yes. The cardboard vibes are gone. Dust. Soldier cookies. Whiff of dried mandarins. Old men's aftershave. A finish that reminds me of days gone by. Wauwi. Warm. Beautiful. Like the spring sun going under.
