Surprisingly grassy. A maltiness at the edge of cardboard, a little perfume. Only a small whiff of peat, turning rather farmy and even a bit dirty eventually. Water makes it sweeter and fruitier.

More intense. More peaty, more spice, but also sweeter. Sweet lime. Some malt and caramel. Still a bit grassy.
    • Finish
      86 86
Peat, malt and caramel. Some peach and marshmallow in the background.

What an islay board! This whisky is characterized by its unbridled power and wildness. Long, almost endlessly, the savory islay aromas persist and never end. What a powerful and intense whisky ... I like it very much!
    • Nose
Blind tasting: Already when pouring a cold smoke and peat note noticeable. Intensive mineral peat mixes with spicy heating elements and a hint of sweet fruit during the further nosing. The relatively high alcohol content is also noticeable very quickly and tickles slightly in the nose. Oily and smoky peaty the Islay exudes its wonderful aroma. A hint of fried bacon is in the air, a small campfire is burning nearby ....
    • Taste
At the first sip, the cold smoke and the stony peat aroma exude a peppery pungency, the salivation is instantly stimulated. Crackling and tingling between the lips and the gums, mineral peat and cold smoke flavors now dominate the taste. Slightly dry wood aromas are now brought to bear and exude their bitter aroma. An aftertaste of citrus and liquorice eventually becomes spicy and literally burns on the tongue. My salivation is stimulated by sip to sip more ....
    • Finish
The mineral sharpness is still burning on the tongue. Black pepper warms the palate and exudes a plump warmth. The sharpness fades away slowly, leaving mineral traces and cold stone on the tongue. For a long time it glows on the palate and on the tongue, the chubby heat never seems to fade away. The flow of saliva is almost unbraked, slowly come tart wood elements to advantage and complete the never ending finish. Almost endless rest the powerful and intense peat and smoke aromas on the palate. The echoes sound powerful after a felt eternity.

Nice nose, some costal whiffs, but on the palate very unpleasant metallical notes, getting even worse with water. Rather unbalanced. Not my kind of stuff.

Power, volume, balanced. Sweet, orange, nutmeg and peat / smoke.
