- Complex dram. Some nice and funky flavors here.
- A real puzzle. Very complex. It’s hard to grasp any particular flavor that takes the lead. There is so much going on in this malt! I could definitely taste the high level of quality and craftsmanship that went into this whisky. I also noticed a few very small black flakes of barrel char in the bottle. This malt has no color added and is not chill-filtered. These tasting notes were made after adding two teaspoons of water to the dram and letting it sit for about ten minutes. This really brought out more aromas, and tamed the alcohol burn, although it was still present (92 proof).
Sour fruit, vanilla, lemon meringue, salted nuts, nutmeg, lilac, banana, melted caramel, and peat.
Salted nuts, dried sour fruits (sour apple), oily and wet mossy peat.
Doesn’t linger. Sour fruits (apple/pear), salted nuts, peat without smoke.
- An excellent 10. One of the best.
Big and oaky. Hints of brine and peat. Fruity, but earthy. Mulitgrain bread.
Sweet. Dried apricots, then cereal grains. Nutty with smoky peat undercurrents. Sharp and crisp.
Medium long and spicy. Coastal, salty and dry.
