Aside from the presence of a strong nettle, it has no major flaws. A little dilution might help. I tried a version where the Dornoch character was more pronounced, but that doesn't mean the Clynelish character is bad at all. The presence of interesting notes like malty, citrus, fruitiness, and creme fraiche shows the depth of this whisky. I eagerly await future versions, especially those produced when the Brora distillate becomes available (if such a day ever comes).

    Price-performance ratio: Average-good, Good
Would I repurchase?: Even if I couldn't have a full bottle, I'd love to have at least half a bottle, and I'm definitely warming up to the idea of buying other versions.

A bit of nettle, young, almost stinging. A hint of honey, a lovely waxiness that builds up over time. A hint of green pear and green apple. A hint of vanilla. Cooked green apple and a slight yogurt-like taste, perhaps. Maybe a little black pepper. A very subtle floraly undertone. Orange and lemon zest, also at the bottom. Honey-roasted hazelnuts and sesame seeds. Acetone. A nice clynelish character. The Dornoch side a little further down. Loaf of bread. A petrol-like side. Delicious, but a little too nettle-like.

A surprisingly sweet palate (medium-high). Deliciously cooked apples, both red and green, but especially the red. Beautiful white blossoms. Grist, malt. Honey loaf bread. Apple pie. A hint of black pepper underneath. One side feels like burnt plastic; perhaps wax-based. Honeysuckle nectar. A slight acidity in the background. Lemon zest. Creme Fraiche. A little nettle again, but still quite enjoyable.

Lemon balm, a hint of wax, honey again, lemon zest. The floral notes continue here. Perhaps a hint of clove. Apples are here again, but further down. Confit orange peels. Honeydew melon. Vanilla. Complex enough. Medium-low intensity. A finish slightly shorter than average.
