    Color: golden.
Nose: fresh and baked apples, cinnamon, wax, Kurabiye cookies, pears, celery stalk, powdered sugar, clove, meadow herbs, chocolate, heather, hay, allspice, vanilla ice cream, oranges, wrapping paper, tobacco, and even a touch of peat.
Taste: apples, honey, lemons, pears, cinnamon, a hint of pepper, salt, lingonberries, peaches, malt, apricots. Incredibly fruity. Never comes off too sweet, which I absolutely love. Soft, effortlessly drinkable.
Finish: lemons, honey, salt, chocolate, cinnamon, pears, more pronounced pepper, apples, cranberries. Echoes the palate, though not as convincingly.

Conclusion: not sweet at all. Wonderfully drinkable Speyside malt, matured in a bourbon cask that lost 70% of its spirit to evaporation. Wow, I'm impressed. So glad I grabbed one of the last bottles remaining at K&L Wines. I had misread "creamiest" in their description as "sweetest" and almost skipped this malt. 88/100.

I have to agree with another review that this is an unusual Glentauchers. I think there is a little heathery aspect from a peat angle. There should be more bottles available from a 16 year old bourbon hogshead barrel. ABV is correct for the length of time in barrel. So I think wood and evaporation had a lot to do with it. We have no control over this. So high rating for a different Glentauchers.

With bottle open for awhile becoming more like a "standard" Glentauchers. But since I like this particular distillery it gets a relatively high rating

April 2025. Honey sweet and fruity and heathery and all sold out.

Tasted again in May 2025 and aftertaste seems longer and better. Since I really like Glentauchers and this one meets my expectations, rating increased. Compared to Cadenhead's Chairmans stock. This one is marginally lower. Still gets a 91.

In June 2025, creamy, fruity, buttery. Kind of bubble gum character. Sticking with latest rating as an unusual dram because of evaporation. Came from a single hogshead barrel, so maybe not that much evaporation.

    Notes from K&L website:

"This unusual little hogshead of Tauchers may not offer the value play on paper that the other younger malts in this series can, but what it will do is change (or form) your opinions about Glentauchers. This unusual hogshead was distilled on July 17th of 2008 and despite only being 16 years old, it turned out just 96 bottles. It's unusual to see a hogshead at this age turn out less than 250 bottles. Nearly 70% of the original contents of this barrel has evaporated. The resulting whisky is completely unique. Offering one of the richest, creamiest Tauchers we've ever experienced. Bottled in on July 29th, 2024, at a natural cask strength of 54.5%. No chillfiltration or color added."
