  1. dercaptain scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

An exciting, stormy Arran that develops impressive complexity thanks to the triple wood finish. The 17 years of ageing give it a harmonious depth that is sure to delight both explorers and lovers of classic Arran whiskies. A whisky that leaves you wanting more – perfect for connoisseurs who enjoy immersing themselves in the world of island flavors.
    • Nose
      87 87
A stormy, maritime opening, fitting for the mermaid-themed cover and its Isle of Arran origins. After a brief time in the glass, the rough character subsides, opening the stage for an impressive array of aromas. Fresh currants, slightly tart wild berries (wine cask), and subtle vanilla notes (from the bourbon cask) combine to create a multifaceted experience. The nose remains exciting and invites you to discover ever new nuances. A few drops of water tame the stormy side and emphasize the softer, sweeter aromas.
    • Taste
      89 89
An aromatic force that initially seems overwhelming, but thanks to the 17 years of barrel aging, it blends into a harmonious overall experience. The triple wood finish reveals its full strength: red berries, soft vanilla, and a balanced sweetness create a harmonious, complex flavor.
    • Finish
      87 87
Medium to long finish, with a pleasant sweetness that harmoniously fades into fruit and vanilla. The maritime notes on the nose fade discreetly into the background, yet leave a charming impression.
