Distilled shortly after the Week of Peat.

On the nose, it's very creamy with notes of butter, vanilla, and a smoldering, slightly smoky hint. On the palate, it's sweet and spicy with an interesting mix of different flavors. I detect sweet notes of vanilla, cookie dough, and popcorn. Spicy notes of toasted grain, ground pepper, and cloves. Hints of fresh citrus and light fruits. A distant whiff of smoldering charcoal, perhaps burnt grain or bread. Overall, the smoke is very restrained, even more so than on the nose.

An interesting whisky and an atypical Balvenie, which is enjoyable with its sweetness, gentle fruit and vanilla notes, spice, and subtle smoke. However, it doesn't completely blow me away.

    blind tasting

Light white wine lies restlessly in the glass.
At first sniff I imagine a subtle smoky note. But the longer I smell it, the more the memory fades. Perhaps it's more like the heavily burnt bourbon barrel. It seems very fresh. Citrusy and fruity with a little grass clippings. And vanilla croissants with white pepper.
Starts extremely(!) sweet on the tongue. As if I was licking a sugar cube. It is very strong. Much more alcohol than I had in my nose. But also because the alcohol is not balanced by much depth. The fruit is now more in the direction of sweet honeydew melon. Slightly charred and with ground pepper. So if there was smoke involved, then it was really unbelievably little. Otherwise there is very little from the automatic.
Then fades quite quickly in the finish. But becomes a little more bitter. Now it shows for the first time that it had seen oak. And there was definitely smoke involved here. Now I have it again at the end. Not much, but noticeable
