  1. plutoes scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

A bourbon that shines less in contemplative tasting, but excels as a casual sipper — something to enjoy while doing other things, with its bold sweetness and underlying balance.
    • Nose
      83 83
Caramel and bright red maraschino cherries take center stage.
Acetone shows up as a quick kick but doesn’t overwhelm, balanced by tart plums and a touch of peppery spice reminiscent of sansho.
With time, red grapes and soft vanilla emerge, alongside fleeting hints of macadamia and butter.
The note composition is good, but the volume feels a bit restrained, leaving the nose somewhat closed.
    • Taste
      86 86
A rush of sweet-and-tart plum syrup bursts across the palate, quickly joined by searing burnt sugar bitterness and citrusy orange oil.
Mid-palate, the burnt sugar gives way to raw sugar syrup sweetness, with cacao nibs, tangerine zest, and bitter orange peel adding depth.
Rolling across the tongue, the bitterness subsides into caramel, oak, and lingering dry wood.
Heavy, dense, and mouth-coating, holding its structure even with dilution.
Overt sweetness dominates, but tartness and bitterness provide balancing contrasts across different phases.
It skirts the edge of being overly sweet, yet remains enjoyable.
    • Finish
      85 85
Retro-nasally, caramel and orange dominate, joined by acetone brightness, red grapes, peppery sansho, and a cooling touch of peppermint.
On the palate, raw sugar syrup sweetness is almost overwhelming, but balanced slightly by ripe tangerine, orange oil, and a pinch of spice.
The finish hits hard but doesn’t linger as long as expected.
