  1. Archer scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

In a direct comparison to Batch #016 (a second bottle is currently open), it loses the nose comparison quite clearly, but then catches up a little in terms of taste and makes up ground. The finish is then (finally) a peat party.
As different as the 10 CS batches are, such a tamed nose is not necessarily necessary, one can and should still expect something different from a 10 CS.

Unlike usual, it doesn't jump into your face like peat shortly after pouring, doesn't wave around strips of Hansaplast like a fool, and doesn't have the guys from K & B Construction in tow, who are just laying the last few meters of asphalt before it's time for a well-earned evening with 6-packs and a BBQ. A little patience, thank you. Yes, please, but it really hasn't taken that much patience to get to the point of "Ahh, Laphroaig" exclamation.
Now seaweed and sweet peat smoke, which can barely cover the smoked apricot pieces. Canned pineapple, served with a little sea salt and black pepper - what a fruit. Even the first sip does not change the comparatively light and fruity nose.

Yes, that's right, there's a lot to catch up on. The creamy start is almost soft, but there's no shortage of peat smoke, nor of fresh asphalt, seaweed, salt and that feeling you'd probably get if you bit into used plasters and bandages. Still very fruity, though, with dried and smoked apricot pieces, peach slices, pineapple and lemon peel. Slightly ashy mouthfeel, nothing remains of the initial creaminess, it gets dry relatively quickly and then quite spicy.
    • Finish

Medium-long, dry, quite spicy and peaty - the bee stings from behind. What it lacks in the nose is delivered quite clearly in the finish. Here it shows what you would expect from a 10 CS.
