The finish is the hallmark of this whisky. The taste, despite its interestingness, is not as dense and collected as expected, based on the aroma.
I would never have guessed it was pure Sherry Cask!

    • Nose
Very interesting and new fragrance for me!
The first violin is bright and colorful barberry, then waxed glossy paper, floral-grassy with apocalyptic herbs, rose petals, very fruity and here you can clearly feel Williams pear, coconut oil, notes of malt are very delicate and far audible
    • Taste
Rancieu, fruit sugar, barberry, garden fruits, very delicate and oily, but a little watery and not as dense and collected as we would like, dryness, tannins, slight mustard bitterness, plant notes of field and pharmacy herbs, noticeable minerality (chalk)
    • Finish
      Tannins, woodiness, barberry, dryness.
Oh! Very nice and balanced finish! Bravo!

Sweet as an eastern night. And just as warm.
    • Nose

Sweet, frozen buckwheat honey, red juicy apple, plum cake.
    • Taste
      90 90
The taste is sweet, bright. Such a tea party with fruit, jam and strong hot tea.
    • Finish
      89 89
The aftertaste is sweet, tart, giving off prunes

    • Nose
Galia melon, litchi, vanilla, apricot, caramel and apple.
    • Taste
Galia melon, apricot, vanilla, apple and caramel. With water some porridge.
    • Finish
Galia melon, vanilla, caramel, apple and porridge.

I find this a bit watery but it's not my first dram of the night and perhaps it should have been.
    • Nose
Redolent of age with mustiness and bung cloth, but plenty of underlying interest. Faintly floral and deliciously malty at the start. stewed fruits rise to the surface and mingle with the malt.
    • Taste
The age is evident in the palate too. Delicate stewed fruit compote is full of charm but it's not intense and requires concentration.
    • Finish
The spices come through and add cinnamon to the stewed fruit.

    This was clearly a
good cask, with the oak and sherry supporting the Glencadam character instead
    of overpowering it. Class!
    • Nose
      The nose is lucious
and soft. Besides a lot of herbal hints, I get a nice jacket of fruits with
blood oranges, juicy mandarins, passion fruit and unripe pineapple. Praliné and
a soft touch of oak. All very subtle.
    • Taste
      On the palate it is
soft and somewhat creamy. The fruit returns, but the spices are a lot louder
now, giving strength to this dram. Some herbal tea, white pepper, ginger and
    • Finish
      The finish is silky
soft and absolutely not drying, but rather short.

    Glencadam 1974 WhF  41.5%

    Color :  light yellow

Nose :  briny, sherryish, oilyish, with flowers, hints of fruit and some herbs

Taste :  fruity, a touch of oil, something like bread, but it isn`t bread!, slightly nutty

Finish:  same and short to medium long, a little dry

Com. :  a subtle whisky, very enjoyable!

Thanks again(although some time ago) , CJ and M.

Not a flavour bomb, but still an excellent balance and pleasant 'oldness'. A great example of this overlooked distillery.
    • Nose
Complex and refined. A slightly subdued fruity layer (orange, tangerine, maybe guava) with additional layers of dried flowers and soft herbs (lovage), a leathery / oily touch and faint hints of mocha. Subtle oak as well. More delicately sherried than last year's Malts of Scotland release.
    • Taste
Not extremely powerful (no surprise) but pleasant. Fruity notes (oranges), a little ginger and hints of herbal tea. Leather notes and oak.

    • Finish
Similar flavours. Medium long, nicely balanced and not too dry.
