    A Challenging Spirit

This is not an easy-drinking dram. Yet it constantly provokes curiosity: "How did they achieve this flavor?" or "I didn't know these notes could work together." More than a whisky to simply enjoy, it's a spirit that invites contemplation and exploration.

"Sweet, Yet Not Sweet; Funky, Yet Not Funky"

The balance here is truly intriguing. Nostalgic notes of old wooden furniture and the slightly musty character of dark chocolate intertwine with the deep sweetness of raisins and brown sugar. Yet despite these aromas, it never feels overwhelmingly sweet, leaning instead toward the restrained sweetness of licorice. Gentle touches of star anise spice emerge alongside the sweet-and-tart aroma of candied orange. There is also a distinct impression of sugar-coated apples. The aroma isn't particularly loud, but there is plenty to analyze and discover.

      "Fascinating"

This is fascinating. The palate doesn't feel especially dense, yet somehow gives the impression of considerable depth. It feels neither hollow nor fully packed, occupying a unique middle ground. The peculiar sweetness of licorice is joined by darker-toned vanilla and the rich sweetness of dried persimmon. The profile isn't driven solely by sweetness; the brightness of candied orange and plum jam adds clarity and lift. Notes of prunes and candy contribute additional layers of sweetness. As it lingers, the bitterness of dark chocolate and the spice of clove gradually rise to the surface. It may not be immediately "delicious" in an obvious sense, but the more you think about it, the more you find yourself wondering, "How did they create a combination like this?"

Chocolate, Cardamom, Walnut, Licorice, Angelica Root, Oak, Caramel
      "Spicy, Yet Never Annoying"

The finish opens with overlapping waves of sweet and bittersweet chocolate. Cardamom and walnut follow, adding warmth and nuttiness, before licorice and angelica root bring an herbal, medicinal character. Subtle oak and caramel notes remain quietly in the background. It's not a finish built entirely from conventionally pleasant notes, yet it never becomes unpleasant. Instead, it leaves behind an oddly compelling aftertaste, reminiscent of the lingering aroma after smoking a cigarette.
