    There is a lot of oak at work here. There are dried fruits and the distillate has a rich malty character, but the overall picture is determined by the barrel, so that you have to bite through a little wood after the initially somewhat strenuous mouthfeel to get to the chocolatey, malty core. I like it, but perhaps it should have been bottled a little earlier.
    • Nose
      On a freshly polished old oak table lie red apples, dried orange peel and prunes, dried apricots, raisins, the wood spice mixes with a little cinnamon and brown sugar, malt, a pinch of white pepper, nutmeg, lots of cocoa turns into noble, bitter chocolate, fine roasted notes develop, browned hazelnut slivers, freshly ground coffee, after a while vanilla comes through
    • Taste
      The antique oak, smeared with a thin layer of polish, is almost at its limit, sour cherry and black currant, forest honey softens the sour, woody start, it develops spicy and nutty, white pepper, allspice, leather and a little shoe polish keep coming through, tobacco, the dried fruits appear on the scene, orange peel, raisins, dried plums and apricots, red apples with shriveled factor, after a while quite malty and chocolaty, roasted coffee, vanilla
    • Finish
      Long finish, malt, lots of dark oak aromas, tobacco, dark chocolate, espresso, spices lead the way to the end, nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, then walnut and raisin, before a leathery, dry and woody aftertaste develops in the mouth with a hint of vanilla
