  1. anter scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

As someone on whiskybase pointed out before, a character more like lagavulin than laphroaig. Distillate forward. Maritime, seafood and seaweed prominent. Suitable for beginners. Have I seen better than Thompson? I have. But this whisky is definitely not bad either.

    Price performance: Good.
Would I buy it again?: I might want to have a 20cL but not a 70cL, it's not a rare Indian fabric. So I don't think so.
    • Nose
      85 85
Surprisingly low (but present) medicinality from a laphroaig. Full char. Light butteriness, even beurre noisette. Crisp iodine, light seaweed, nori. Corky, toasted bread or bruschetta. Roasted malt and maybe play dough. Light freshness with lemon peel. Tobacco. Not the deepest nose in the world, but decent.
    • Taste
      84 84
Very herbal on the palate. Maybe thyme. Like an alcohol-based herbal extraction. Heavy smoke, light tar, asphalt, lots of coal. Green fruits; mainly apple. Unfortunately, it feels a little watery. Maybe slightly corky. Still kelpy. Umami. Nori. Dried shrimp powder. A little sweetness; honeyed. Interestingly sessionable; light. Not too deep. Definitely not too young or out of tune.
    • Finish
      84 84
A touch of bitter but not astringent. Starts on sweet and slightly tart aromas, especially honey. Lots of smoke and coal, ash. The dilution leaves this place a little light. Like exhaust gas on one side. Still kelpy. Burnt rubber or caoutchouc. A touch of iodine again. Smooth but as if the dilution took some of it away.
