Tasted after 2 refill Sherry MM.
If one seemed more bourbon to me, the other was definitely marked by Sherry.
Here it is a bit of in between.
The fruits are present, lively, exotic and it is very well balanced. We might lack a bit of definition, and less woody bitterness.

The tasting started on an 88, then ended on a 90/91. Give him time.
    • Nose
      90 90
We have above all camphor fruit.
Mango, apricot, peach, orange, lemon, pineapple and even a little kiwi.
Light shoe polish cream. Milk chocolate.
      Wood, cloves, cinnamon. Slight bitterness.
      Medicinal, camphor, eucalyptus.
    • Taste
      91 91
In the mouth it is oily.
The woody bitterness takes the front with its spices.
      Pepper, cloves, cinnamon, cocoa.
We are on the zest of lemon, orange, peach and pear.
      Light smoke and oily peat.
With aeration, the fruit follows the exoticism of the nose, with mainly passion fruit, kiwi, pineapple.
    • Finish
      90 90
Long finish on the fruit in syrup. Pineapple, plum, orange, papaya. Szechuan pepper, fresh mint, oily peat. Very successful.

  3. MaltMartin scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Typcically Lochside (1981) profile for me. Lots of juicy sweet fruitiness of pineapple, oranges, grapefruit and lemon. Very nice! No trace of (refill) sherry in this dram by the way.
    • Nose
Splendid fruity nose of pear, mango, pineapple and apricot. Overripe apples, papaya and passion fruit at the background. Cut grass. Some vanilla and honey clover as well.
    • Taste
Now more on juicy grapefruit, tangerines and oranges. Lemon juice. Barley sugar. Sandal wood and a little metalic edge. Sappy oak. A bit of ginger. It's full bodied mouthcoating.
    • Finish
Long. sweet and warm. Cinnamom. Liquorice. A little mint at the end.
