This bottling hits my nerve exactly and is the first big highlight of the year for me. And what a! Powerful, extremely elegant, perfectly balanced. Nothing bothers you, everything is in the right place and seems exemplary composed from start to finish - from the first odor molecules that fill your nose until after the last sip, when half an hour has passed. I would like to pour more, pour more and pour again...
    • Nose
Oh yes, how great! Open it straight away... Right from the start I realize that with this divine and voluminous nose I'm going to sniff around for half an hour before I take the first sip... The alcohol is practically imperceptible. My attention first turns to the extremely elegant smoky note. It no longer has the character of the younger Laphi bottlings (seaweed, elastane, tar paper, smoked ham), but the smoke reminds me more of the smell of an antique master's room, where cooled, spicy pipe smoke settles in the pores of cupboards, leather armchairs and tapestries has. Fortunately, there are still slightly salty and iodine-rich notes. Caressed by the smoke, I still find lush vanilla, tasty caramel, dried oranges, dried peaches, spicy tobacco, light leather, pickled ginger (sweetened), white peppercorns, passion fruit syrup, Persipan, sun-ripened dates and figs, rum raisins, milk chocolate and extremely multi-faceted oak spices.
    • Taste
Sparkling start. Full in the mouth, smooth, velvety. The flow of saliva is immediately stimulated. The alcohol is wonderfully well integrated and still has a lot of power and allows for real indulgence. Orange syrup, marzipan, caramel, cocktail cherries, dates, raw sugar, rum raisins, salt blossoms, milk chocolate, toffee, hazelnut cream, vanilla and again very complex but in no way dominant oak notes. All these aromas are interwoven and refined by the pleasant and spicy note of smoke. Haha!
    • Finish
Long finish with lots of caramel and chocolate, infused with pleasant smoke. Honey, vanilla cream, Persipan, dried apricots, a touch of tobacco and lush, spicy oak notes - no bitterness, no ashy notes to be tolerated. Oh man, how delicious!
