For the third time in the glass today. Then I'll try to put it into words...
The whisky is very nice and oily in the glass.
    • Nose

At the very first contact, freshly poured, the aromas were quite restrained. A subtle, sweet and warm smoke. I'm a little irritated by an intense note of freshly cut sage, which is just added to the hot butter with the gnocchi fried in the pan. After a few minutes, the herbal note combined with the sweetness develops into the liquid filling of the Paroli herbal sweets from the 90s. (The older ones will remember...)
For the stated alcohol volume percentages, I completely miss it in my nose. Even when I tasted it repeatedly, I initially missed a fruity note.
    • Taste
      88 88
First of all, the note here is that the alcohol is incredibly well integrated. Blindly I would have guessed 47-48%vol.
Here too, subtle, pleasant smoke. Very intensely sweet. I like it that way, but I think many people will find it a little over it. When it comes to taste, I also stick with the squeaky-sweet filling of a herbal candy. When I sip it repeatedly, with a lot of imagination, I now recognize the aroma behind the herbs, more in terms of the aroma than the taste, of a dried apricot that was already clearly overripe before processing.
A few drops of water bring out the smoke a little more, but are not good for the whisky overall. Which doesn't surprise me, since Mr. Z. admits he prefers to enjoy his whisky the way the bottler chose it and bottled it.
    • Finish
      87 87
The overall herbal-sweet overall impression slowly fades away with a pleasantly shallow trail of smoke. Very nice that there is really no bitterness at all. You may occasionally have brief impressions of earthy tones. In my opinion, a subtle sulfur note would have suited him well...

Conclusion: as expected, not a complexity monster. An easy sipper (in this particular case an easy 'Z'ipper) where you should think carefully about which circle you place it on the table. It could be that one bottle (in my inventory) runs out quickly.

      Nice whisky!
