A fantastic piece for fans of full maturation in wine casks and cask strength. Loch Lomond has definitely moved away from its reputation as a cheap whisky distillery. Its price is really good, and with its first-fill Rivesaltes cask, it also has a certain exclusivity.

What a wonderful woody aroma, immediately noticeable on the nose. This is then followed by numerous notes of apple, pear, cereals, vanilla, and pepper, as well as the Rivesaltes grapes—also supported by the 56.3% alcohol content.
    • Taste
      88 88
A truly solid piece. Everything remains, and after a while, it's complemented by traces of citrus and pineapple. European oak, as the spiciness is very distinctive. Lovers of sweet whiskys: steer clear of this one, there's more left for us woodies. Truly great.
    • Finish
      87 87
Medium to long finish. Remains stable, although the finish isn't as spicy as the palate would suggest. Even chocolate reveals itself at the end. A wonderfully complex dram for only 10-11 years of maturation.
