    10/25/2024 - bottle

Although I only reviewed it yesterday, I jumped ahead of the other reviews I've done, because Lamas Plenus in its third generation has improved a lot, leaving us hopeful that the distillery is finding its way to quality and the pleasure of drinking a good whiskey! Long live Minas Gerais!

Vanilla, malt, dried fruits. With the heat we're having here in Brazil, the alcohol has evaporated, but it leaves a taste of dried cereals. It's still hot and spicy, but not unpleasant. There are spices (cloves, cinnamon, licorice), a hint of candied fruits, honey, "Karo" corn syrup. In the background, there's mature wood and it's slightly sulfuric and acetic. Everything is very light, although rich. I'm still doing a blind taste test and I was going to say that it's an ex-bourbon in French oak, but these notes reminded me of the finish of Oloroso sherry. It opens up and still has brown sugar, red flowers and malted milk.

With water it became sweeter, very clear sugary notes, with caramel, dulce de leche, vanilla, gingerbread and syrup. The acetic remains and it is very sweet and malty.

After revealing the label and having a bottle, let's add ice: propolis, honey, malt, wild flowers, dried fruits, dulce de leche and dark chocolate.

Malt, astringent, cereals, caramel, honey, propolis, reminiscent of a field of wildflowers and working bees. Spicy. Dried fruits and spices are present, but less intense than in the aroma, or are the tannins covering everything up?

With water, the wood and its astringent tannins appear more, which do not even appear in the aroma, overpowering the sweet, floral and fruity notes. Slightly creamy, it eliminated some of the spiciness, but it is here as fresh spices.

With ice it eliminates the tannic, leaving the malt, mature wood, honey, dried fruits, wild flowers and beeswax.

Medium to long, with a tannic aftertaste, cooked fruits, light vanilla, dried fruits, a little oily, mature white wood but seems to have spent a bit in Virgin Oak. Cereals, malt and licorice. Dry finish.
