Nose: used tyre in a good way and that harmony between a little rubber and leathery sherry. Orange notes, a touch of salt and some earthy ginger with red apples.

Taste: peat comes through nicely, without overpowering. Earthy character with too much farmyard. Baked fruits, tyre rubber and what I've noted to be sooty sherry. Bergamot, wood spice and a rich honey.

    My thoughts
It’s no surprise that the audience absolutely loved this. I frequently ponder whether whiskies like this can truly meet the high expectations and hefty price tags attached to them. Ideally, we can strip away one of those factors and allow people to appreciate Brora simply for what it is: a lovely whisky. Unfortunately, once Diageo begins to release the new incarnation, it’s unlikely to be within reach for the average enthusiast.
