- A lot of grain, vanilla, spices, chocolate marshmallows, dried apricots, cherries with cognac. First sweet, caramel, spices, then refresh, sour, dry
- Room temperature when drinking: 18 ℃
Viewing Eyes: Copper Gold
Smell Nose: cream cake, varnish, alcohol is very obvious, caramel buds, heavy butter cookies, half-cooked cheese, Wang Zi milk, with a sour taste in the second half, like the monkey king Dan eat when I was a child, and Weak sense of northeast pickled cabbage
Taste Palate: so sweet, caramel, cream, paint, heavy cheesecake, Lady M Melaleuca, faintly made with nine bayberry
End rhyme Finish: medium and light, Monkey King Dan, corn candy
Body: Medium, slightly weighty, medium firmness, bitter bottom
Overall: The sense of hierarchy is weak, from smell to entrance
- Decent bourbon, a bit watery, not so much caramel and vanilla, but the oak and cherry are a nice combination.
Sweet varnish, citrus, caramel, oak
Thin, cherry, baking spice, orange, good heat
Slight tannin, red fruits, sweet raspberry tea
Vanilla, pickled vegetables, notes of a carpentry workshop (just sawn board, varnish, glue), flower and perfume motifs, ascorbic acid, exotic fruits. Not very complicated, but pleasant. 21
Lightweight, moderately dry. Pepper, green apple, oak barrels, salt, vanilla, fruit drops, perfume notes, creamy toffee, herbal bitterness, very light smoke. 20
From short to medium, smoothly fading. Oak tannins dominate, to which not very pleasant alcoholic bitterness is added, at the very end a hint of menthol is added. nineteen
Understandable, drinking bourbon. Balance 21.
- For me, the tastes and smells are very well integrated and harmonious, but they are also very soft and not easily extricated. It is easy to dismiss this as characterless, but it's character is its nuance. It is has an amenable charm. It won't demand your attention if you want to drink it casually, but it will provide a good quiet chat if you're in the mood, too.
Citrus peel and dried red fruits, a flash of brown sugar and dill, light cinnamon and nutmeg, cereal grains, vanilla pod, dry tieguanyin tea leaves, damp oak, and damp earth. (A bit of wood char comes out on the nose after a few minutes. )
Oak and butterscotch, cherry cordial, and marmalade with cinnamon.
Dark chocolate and raspberry liquor, fading to a faint taste of dark chocolate covered espresso beans and oak tannins.
Four Roses, currently owned by the Japanese Kirin, was actually a blend until 2002. It was the Japanese owners that decided to produce and promote it again as a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. This Four Roses Small Batch was bottled in 2014. It is composed of four different bourbons produced in-house.
The nose is round and sweet, but very rich. This smells a lot like citrus peel and brown sugar. Sniffing tobacco, maraschino cherries and toffee apple. Nicely spicy on nutmeg and vanilla. Candied oranges. Hint of coconut and chocolate. Surprisingly complex.
The arrival is (too) soft, not enough body. Honeysweet. The spices speak first. Think nutmeg, but also ginger, cinnamon and a pinch of black pepper. Coriander! Quite feisty. The rye did its best. The sweetness reminds me of chewing tobacco, oranges, cherries and honey. Quite nice!
The finish is bittersweet and medium long. It leaves the mouth quite dry.
A very pleasant surprise, to be honest. And just under 30 EUR. Recommended.
