A whisky I regularly repurchase. Excellent value for money. The fruity berry and orange notes harmonize perfectly with the peppery spice. It's often compared to Talisker Port Ruighe, but usually comes out on top. For me, the opposite is true: the Ardmore is smoother, more aromatically clearer, and even spicier. Overall, clearly superior – in my opinion.
    • Nose
Oranges studded with cloves, accompanied by dry campfire smoke instantly reminiscent of Ardmore. Very fruity, sweet and sour, with clear strawberry at the forefront. The cinnamon note blends in nicely. Subtle tobacco notes in the smoke, the spiciness already quite noticeable. With more time, red currants, apples, caramel, and honey emerge—developing beautifully in the glass.
    • Taste
It starts mild and fruity, with orange dominating. Then a strong burst of peppery oak spice that really gives the whisky character. Behind that come the berries again, especially strawberry, accompanied by a touch of honey. The smoke comes in later, distinctly campfire-like. Cinnamon is also present. Very sweet on the tongue, with a pleasant tart counterpoint that lends it vibrancy.
    • Finish
Here, the campfire smoke is most prominent. This is followed by a distinct wave of red fruit, intense and sweet, again with clear strawberry notes. The combination of fruit, smoke, and oak spice lingers and remains very pleasant on the palate.
