    Final few tasting notes:
    (6) This is a polarizing whiskey. It needs to be tasted first and not after other whiskies, because the profile is so unique. The character seems to change from night to night. I try to appreciate this whiskey, but nonetheless will not be a re-buy.
    (7) The creamy texture of the mid and back palate, and finish, saves this whiskey. I like this more than other craft American single malts which I've experienced as blunt objects. This has more complexity.
    (8) I do not dislike this whiskey. I wouldn't buy again, no doubt, but I like it better than most of the craft American single malts I've tried. So when someone tells me they don't like this, but they like the more "beery" craft ASMs, I know I won't like those.
    (9) Of the variety of American Single Malts I've tried, and there are quite a few, this product from Jim Beam is quite competent overall. While I won't be buying another bottle, it does deliver a relatively balanced profile, whereas many other ASMs are barrel char dominant. This whiskey has plentiful barrel char, but it is balanced with vanilla, honey, very prominent mandarin oranges and some lemon-lime. The mouthfeel is moderately creamy.
    • Nose
      Final few tasting notes:
      (6) Very fruity overtones, red fruits, oversweetened, like raspberries mixed with orange Starburst. Rickhouse oak lies softly underneath. Hints of orange soda or regular cola. There is a familiar rickhouse and slightly musty oak note on the nose. It's an unusual mix of red fruits, orange, and artificial Starburst-like fruitiness mixed with oak. Over-sweet orange and barrel char, burnt toast.
      (7) Bowl of mandarin oranges, fresh and oversweetened, slightly nutty. Some oak, but with overcooked grains. Orange rind. With air time, more custard aromas emerge.
      (8) Oak, barrel char, fresh mandarin oranges. There is a dry nutty character in the background, more like macadamia. With air time, the barrel char aromas subside, and more general barrel notes emerge.
      (9) Orange blossom honey, mandarin oranges, barrel char, oak barrel. The end of this bottle and glass throws out a mild tobacco note as well. Charcoal, toffee.
    • Taste
      Final few tasting notes:
      (6) Orange creamsickle, somewhat creamy mouthfeel with vanilla whipped cream and soft oak. A nutty flavor on the mid palate that lingers to the back palate.
      (7) Harsh barrel char overwhelms the palate, with the citrus, nuttiness and oak arriving on the mid palate, and a creamy vanilla flavor on the back palate. That initial burst of barrel char just dominates the delicate barley grain. Orange cream soda with a dollop of vanilla.
      (8) Charred oranges, heavy barrel char, soft and somewhat creamy texture, and a mild citrus flavor underneath the charred oranges.
      (9) Oranges, caramel, barrel char, vanilla, oak, limes. Sour lemon-lime, drying on the palate, char.
    • Finish
      Final few tasting notes:
      (6) Creamy, yet mostly unremarkable.
      (7) Creamy finish with a little oak and grains.
      (8) Lingering finish full of barrel char and citrus.
      (9) Moderately creamy finish with vanilla, citrus and oak.
