Whisky Reviews for Glendronach 2002
18 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.39 points
- Very impressive for only 8 years of sherry maturation, but probably even better if bottled later.
Cappuccino, sweet, soft raisins and cinnamon buns.
Syrup, sweet, candy, apple sauce and later more spices.
Medium drying with honey comb and sweets.
Sherry, dates and raisins, but also vanilla.
Less heavy sherry than expected. Fresh, wood and pepper.
Long with a lot of pepper
- A very nice dram from Glendronach, although not exactly what the distillery name promises.
A rather unusual Glendronach with very mild sherry cask influence. The first impression is that it was bourbon cask matured due to the notes of vanilla, butter cookies, even slightly herbal profile with big anise notes. After a while, butterscotch, milk chocolate and raisins appear, but they some in a subtle way, unlike typical GD sherrybombs.
The taste is mildly sherried too with butter, wax, more vanilla and the development on typical sherry notes - dark fruits, mainly black and blueberries, chocolate and burnt sugar.
The finish is powerful and long. The berries carry on entertaining the taste buds, together with a big pinch of pepper.
