    ‘A cask to die for’
N: Light, smoked [truffle] oil, charred corn, roasted garlic & fennel, caramelised onions, gooseberry/raspberry/damson jam, cinnamon pancakes, maple syrup, [soft & over-ripe] dried fruit and [fusty] nut chocolate, dried coconut, malty caramel, ginger cake, cooked/sugared butter, soft and sticky sultanas, dried figs, a touch of peat…. and oak to die for.
T: Light at first but immediately thickening to a confident but relaxed, bitter/sweet, fruity, spicy tinture, becoming oily and grassy fresh with a splendid, soft but deep, dark oak, peppery maltiness. The bitter/sweet-oaky/malt balance is constantly engaging.
F: What a wonderful cask - slightly grainy, charred, dusty, fusty, sour, dark, seasoned oak. Profuse vanillas join the oak for a lingering and drying, but then salivating, then drying oaky conclusion. Eventually theres a joint oak/malt checkered flag.
C: What initially seems simple and innocuous turns out to be one excellent aged Highland malt with a changing profile and a cask to die for, so to speak.

    Scores an A
