A really good whisky. I fully understand the high base ratings in this case. No comparison to “ordinary” ex-bourbon bottlings of this age. I probably wouldn't have recognized a Clynelish here, it's more of a middle ground between Ben Nevis and Imperial, only much oilier than both.

Very welcoming. Fresh yellow apple, hard pear, herbal lemonade, honeydew melon. Not even a hint of “youthful” flavors. Very well integrated alcohol. In the background there is wood dust and a very slight medicinal note. I probably would have blindly guessed an 18-19 year old Ben Nevis or Imperial. At least 18-19 years old. A very pleasant, clean, fruity, well-ripened Highland nose or Imperial nose.

Mega oily, really unexpected. So unexpected that when I took the first sip I couldn't concentrate on anything else. The second sip is more precise: yellow apple peel, hard pear, linseed oil, honeydew melon close to the peel. Suggested green plum. And yes, some wax is already there. But not a Clynelish wax, but more of a mineral Imperial wax. The alcohol is rarely well integrated, as is usually the case with whiskys that are about three times as old.

Medium to long. Lots of linseed oil, linseed, in the background slightly bitter apple peel, hard pear, honeydew melon, green plum. Zero alcoholic. Seems much older here too. The waxy note is a bit in the direction of Vaseline - there it is again, the medicinal quality. The linseeds last the longest.
