I tried this with high expectations after hearing that Bladnoch exhibits a distinct cheese aroma, and it turned out to be an incredibly delicious dram that exceeded my expectations. While many reviews mention that the butyric/dairy notes (lactic funk) can be off-putting, it didn't feel like an off-note to me at all. It makes me highly anticipate the new 13-year-old expression that replaced this now-discontinued 11-year-old.

      N. Cheese crackers (Bready/Cheese), Green apple, Vanilla, Toffee, Citrus, Dairy funk.

An intense and direct aroma of cheese crackers (like 'Bready/Cheese') hits first, followed by the bright freshness of green apples, accompanied by toffee and vanilla that add a slightly heavy, rich depth. After airing, notes of dried dairy products and a gentle touch of citrus begin to emerge in the glass.

      P. Thick/Oily texture, Waxy, Honey, Orange, Woody.

It has a remarkably oily and waxy texture, thick enough to coat the mouth, delivering a beautiful sweetness and a vibrant burst of orange-like citrus that spreads across the palate. Rather than being overly dairy-forward, the palate feels sweet and bright. Towards the end, a distinct woodiness emerges and flows naturally into the finish.
    • Finish
      86 86
      F. Woody, Spice (Black pepper), Warming, Malty, Cheese.

A touch of woodiness and a warming, peppery spice linger pleasantly. As the nutty, savory character of malt and a subtle bitterness pass, the dram concludes with a delicate, lingering aftertaste of cheese.
