  1. ASWhisky scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

tasty full-bodied whisky. Associations like: Moor, fog, cold winter day, smoky peat fire at the harbor., I have touched the sky
    • Nose
malty sweetness, Sherrynote, smells of luscious enjoyment, spicy, nut
    • Taste
Peat + smoke, sherry, strong + intense, spicy, citrus, nut, smoke on the palate, dull + warm in the mouth
    • Finish
long, initially heavy: burned gum + bacon, tobacco + leather, salt, lighter and maritime, peat and malt, exciting finish in which the whisky once again develops properly

You can tell his age, but still it is a nice whisky, very drinkable, tolerates water but is very tasty, the sherry fits really well
    • Nose
nice fruity, nice fat peat, malty
    • Taste
strong onset, as you can tell the young age, beautiful strong paired with peat hammer, very beautiful harmony, a little sharp, towards the end s
    • Finish
      long, pleasant and warm

Tasted this over a year ago on Islay with my brother in law and it was amazing. Very much appreciated the nose, nice round taste and it stay's in the mouth long and enjoyable.

So after that i searched for a bottle and got mine last April for a reasonable price. It's difficult to rate the price on bottles like this, but I think it's worth it for such an enjoyable dram.
Ardbeg did a nice job on the bottle and the nice dark label but furthermore a not so exciting presentation.

I opened the bottle last Sunday to share it with some very good friends and it still tastes like I remembered.
This is one for the special moments!

Ardbeg 13y 1998, 55.1%, OB for Feis Ile 2011, Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, 1200 bottles
Tasty, round and sweet nose on candied fruit, orangettes, pear and apple syrup, dried figs and chocolate. All that interlaced with peat and salty aromas. Tobacco too, and coffee. Very nice to smell. Smooth, syrupy mouthfeel, the whisky really sticks to your palate and tongue. Syrup, all kinds of berries (blackberries, red and black berries), raisins, dried plums, then some salt and then the smoke that slowly sets up. A little rubber. Oak. A bit bitter, but the bitter-sweet balance is a lot better with adding water. Long, slightly drying aftertaste on the sherry tones of the taste and peat. Thick, slender Ardbeg who can use a little water. Best a unique profile. 88/100 http://onversneden.com/2011/09/29/ardbeg-1998-for-feis-ile-2011/
