The 7-year-old Bunnahabhain from Duncan Taylor makes its presence felt right from the nose. Robust peat smoke meets fresh lemon, accompanied by vanilla and a slightly rough note of burnt rubber. Despite its young age, it's remarkably well-balanced. On the palate, it's pleasantly sweet and creamy. Vanilla and pastry provide a lovely base, while light fruits add a touch of freshness. These are joined by oak, a hint of ginger spice, and robust peat smoke. I particularly enjoy the combination of sweet notes and the salty, bacon-like smoke, which gives the whisky character. The 54.7% ABV delivers a solid punch without overpowering the individual aromas. The finish is medium to long and is primarily remembered for the peat smoke. The bacon-like notes reappear, along with a touch of minerality and a pleasant vanilla sweetness that fades slowly. Overall, this Duncan Taylor Bunnahabhain is a young but expressive whisky. It combines sweet and creamy notes with strong peat smoke and maritime hints. Anyone who enjoys smoky Islay whiskies and appreciates a good dose of sweetness in their glass will find this to be an honest and characterful bottling.

| 85-86 Punkte
